Nurse Practitioner said that being sensitive is a strength but someone might not appreciate her picking up what they might not want her to pick up on. Although it helps her patients feel more connected and more trusting. #7

I Interviewed a nurse practitioner in New Paltz on 9/14/15 and took her photo.

Do you think that it’s a strength or a weakness to be sensitive?

I definitely think its strength because I’m aware of nuances non-verbal in the tiniest little glance, shift of the eye, body langue or shift in the tone of voice. It doesn’t matter what you say it’s how you say it.

It’s strength but  someone might not appreciate me picking up what they might not want me to pick up on. Often times they call me hyper sensitive.

I’m hyper aware. I work in a prison. Being sensitive helps me at work with the prisoners because I read them like a book and I can tune into each separate inmate instantly. I tune into their personalities and it’s a positive thing because I can joke around with them. I know instantly where they are at and so I can relate to them really well. I tune right into them. This helps me to have a good relationship with them, so I have no reason to fear them.

They learn to trust me because I’m sensitive to them and can connect to them. It’s a mutual trust. They always compliment me and bless me before they leave. They tell me to have a blessed day and that I’m such a good person.

Talking about this makes me feel guilty about wanting to retire because I have more I can give.
